Shakib Surpasses Southee as the T20I’s leading wicket-taker

Shakib Al Hasan passed Tim Southee of New Zealand to become the spinner with the most T20I wickets during his game-winning 5/22 against Ireland in the second T20I at Chattogram.

After catching George Dockrell leg-before off the third ball of the sixth over, Shakib achieved this milestone. Shakib achieved his second career five-for in this format when he castled Harry Tector three balls later.

In T20I cricket, he has 136 wickets at an average of 20.67 and a 6.8 efficiency rate. In addition, he has 2339 runs with a 122.33 strikeout to walk ratio.

The Bangladeshi star has played in 114 T20Is since making his T20I début back in 2006 against Zimbabwe. He has participated in each of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup’s seven iterations.

Bangladesh won the match by a score of 77 runs thanks to his undefeated 38 and 5/22. For his exploits, Shakib was named Player of the Match.
