New Portugal Manager Roberto Martinez Selects Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo will play for Portugal in their Euro 2024 qualifying games this month against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.

There were questions about whether or not the 38-year-old forward would play for his country after the 2022 World Cup.

After Portugal lost to Morocco in the quarterfinals, he left the field in tears. Since then, Roberto Martinez has taken over as the team’s manager, replacing Fernando Santos. In his first team, Martinez chose Ronaldo.
Martinez said that Ronaldo is “very important to the team” and that he doesn’t care about his age. Liechtenstein will be visiting Portugal on March 23. They plan to arrive in Luxembourg on day three.

Ronaldo has scored 118 goals in 196 games for Portugal, which is a record for men. In November, he left Manchester United after giving a controversial interview in which he criticized the club. In January, he joined Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr on a free transfer.
