Afghanistan’s T20I roster will include a veteran for the Pakistan series

For the home series against Pakistan, which starts this week in Sharjah, Afghanistan has picked a strong 17-person team with three backup players.

For the three T20I games, Rashid Khan will be in charge of a team that includes Mohammad Nabi, the former captain. But Rahmat Shah and Hazratullah Zazai, two senior batters, have been kicked off the team.

Nabi, who was captain until the end of the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, was brought back into the team.

Nabi wasn’t picked for the series against UAE, where Rahmat Shah, a regular in ODIs, was added to the T20I team. But Shah was taken out of the team for the Pakistan series and never played his first T20I.

Our team has been working hard in training camp, and the best players available have been chosen for the series,” said Naseeb Khan, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Nabi, who has played in 104 T20Is, is back on the team. The UAE series players Qais Ahmad, Darwish Rasooli, and Mohammad Saleem are not in the squad.

The series will be the first time that these two countries play more than one game against each other. It will start on March 24.

We anticipate a thrilling contest between two excellent squads. “Fans in both countries love their teams and cheer for them with pride and passion,” Naseeb Khan said.

We’re neighbours, so we want to show off our cricket skills and our devotion to friendly competition and mutual respect.

Nangyal Kharoti, Zahir Khan, and Nijat Masoud are the players on the bench.
