Senior opener Paul Stirling filled in as captain for the T20 phase of the Bangladesh trip. After regular captain Andrew Balbirnie took a break.
Ireland is playing three one-day internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 internationals (T20Is), and one test match in Bangladesh.
They were defeated 2-0 in the three-game ODI series and the T20I series is set to begin on March 27.
The Twenty20 Internationals will be led by Stirling. He has been the team’s vice-captain since the beginning of 2019; Cricket Ireland made this decision. Lorcan Tucker is going to serve as his deputy.
Six times in this style, Stirling has led Ireland as captain.
Heinrich Malan, the head coach of Ireland, revealed that Balbirnie’s request for a rest. Before the upcoming Tests against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was the reason for the interim move.
