Lahore Qalandars win second PSL title with Shaheen’s bat and ball

Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by one run in a nail-biting game.

Lahore Qalandars won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title for the second time after beating Multan Sultans by one run in the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The Sultans were trying to reach a difficult goal of 201 runs, but they lost by just one run in a match that made fans feel a lot of different things.

During the run chase, David Wiese got the breakthrough when he got Usman Khan out in the fourth over of the innings. The right-handed batter got 18 runs in 12 pitches. Even though the Sultans lost early, Rilee Rossouw and Mohammad Rizwan put together an impressive partnership of 64 runs in 42 balls.

This helped them keep up with the required run rate. But Rashid Khan got Rossouw just as the batter was about to take the game away from the Qalandars. In 32 balls, the South Africans got 52 runs. Rashid struck again in his last over, and Rizwan, who had scored 34 runs in 23 balls, was out when he tried to get over the long-on boundary.

David Wiese did a great job fielding the ball. He caught it, kept his balance, and then flicked it back into the air as he stepped over the rope. Once he was back inside the boundary, he was able to make the catch.

Shaheen gave up 34 runs in his first two overs, but he came back in his second spell and got the dangerous Kieron Pollard out. The all-around player for the Windies got 19 runs in 16 balls. Shaheen also got three wickets in his last over, which gave his team a good chance to win the game. But Haris Rauf gave up 22 runs in the second-to-last inning, making the end of the game very exciting. But Zaman Khan kept his cool and helped his team win the game in the last over.

Before, the Qalandars scored 200-6 in the 20 overs they were given. After getting off to a fast start with 34 runs in the first three overs, the Qalandars’ first batter, Tahir Baig, was out by a sharp short ball from Ihsanullah. The right-hander hit 18 balls and made 30 runs. With Lahore at 82-1 at the half-way point, the wicket and some good bowling by the Sultans helped stop the flow of runs.

For the second wicket, Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique contributed 57 runs in 38 balls. However, just as they were about to speed up the rate of scoring, the Sultans took four wickets quickly and ruined the batting team’s plans. Usama Mir, who bowls with his legs, took three wickets in his first two overs. He got rid of Zaman (39), Sam Billings (9), and Ahsan Hafeez (0). While that was going on, Khushdil Shah got rid of Sikandar Raza (1) with a ball that slid through and hit the batter’s stumps.

Lahore was having trouble, so their captain Shaheen went out on the field and attacked the Multan bowlers with some amazing shots. He was still not out after getting 44 runs in 15 balls, including two fours and five sixes.
