Shaheen Afridi, wife Ansha holding PSL 2023 trophy

Lahore Qalandars became the first team to win consecutive PSL championships a day earlier.

Much to the delight of fans, a photo of Lahore Qalandars Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife, Ansha Afridi, holding the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight trophy began spreading on Twitter, capturing everyone’s attention.

Lahore Qalandars became the first team in PSL history to win back-to-back titles on Saturday, defeating Multan Sultans by one run in a dramatic final.
Both husband and wife can be seen in the photo posing with the PSL 8 trophy at Gaddafi Stadium.

Before the final match on Saturday, supporters assumed that Shaheen’s performance was boosted by Ansha’s presence, but several netizens claimed that the images circulating on social media were not of Ansha, but of her elder sister Aqsa Afridi.

People mistook Aqsa for Ansha due to their similar facial characteristics when the former’s picture from the stadium went viral on Twitter, showing her celebrating for Shaheen after he scored a number of boundaries.

After being engaged for two years, the star pacer Shaheen married Ansha in a modest mosque in Karachi on February 3.

A day earlier, Shaheen took 4-51 after hitting a quick 44 not out but was forced to run out at the bowler’s end when the Sultan’s Khushdil Shah attempted a third run to force a super over.

The Qalandars scored 200-6 in their 20 overs in front of a 25,000-strong crowd at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, while the Sultans finished on 199-8.

Last year’s final saw the Qalandars overcome the Sultans.

Shaheen let up 34 runs in his first two overs as the Sultans raced to 101-1 in 10 overs.
